Wake me when it is over

The election.

I have been meaning to post how this patriotic event has affected my thinking and my living over the last few months, but I just cannot seem to find the words.

I have been old enough to vote for over a decade, but I never have made it to the poll booth. Yeah, you are right...I am uneducated, lazy, the weather is usually bad, complacent and a bad American. Throw your mud in my comment section. Most people are walking around with their teeth dripping with political propaganda, waiting to take a bite out of every thought that contradicts their opinions. I have heard it all. I have tried to defend my inaction. It no longer hurts me. I cannot quite connect with the people who think I am all of those things, but do not understand and feel how I am and have been over the last 12 years.
Disappointed.

has the political charge this election season done anything different to you than the ones from the past?...will you vote this year?

in the freedom of this country we have the right to vote...and the right to not vote. and maybe not voting is a form of voting, if you think about it.

now civic duty and conviction are different balls of wax. i'd still like to think about the implications of those.

I agree with Michelle that in this country we have the right to vote and the right not to vote. We have a choice.

Until recently, I had actually considered not voting for the first time since I was 18 as I had yet to be moved or stirred in any way by any candidate. But as is often the case with me, something struck me and I will again be entering that voting booth, expecting to yet again be disappointed with the decision of the "majority" of Americans.

What I can say is that I have never questioned your decision nor your reasons why you have not voted, because I understand the frustration and I can honestly say that I am almost at the point where I feel the need to exercise my right not to vote as well!
